16+ Thanet Consortium

St George’s is a member of the 16+ Thanet Consortium.  This involves a partnership between local school 6th Forms and Thanet College which enables students to study a greater variety of subjects.

A minibus service provides a transport service between school sites and school learning facilities are open to participating students.

St George’s currently has links with Dane Court Grammar School, Hartsdown Technology College, Ursuline College and Thanet College.

A wide variety of subjects are available, enabling students to have the choice of a wider curriculum.  Subjects cover both AS Level and A2 Level and Vocational courses.

The Consortium has widened the breadth of the curriculum and students are now able to remain at St George’s and study a wide variety of courses at different levels across Thanet.  Students can therefore have their courses structured for their own needs and progression pathways.

The variety of subjects is increasing and some that are available include:   ICT, Health & Social Care, Film Studies, Food Technology, Music, Mathematics, Sociology, Media Studies, Law, Textiles, Philosophy & Ethics and Intermediate courses, as well as GCSE resits.

Pupils now have the opportunity to make use of specialist facilities across the Consortium Schools while being provided with the pastoral support at St George’s.  Applications should be made to St George’s and we are pleased to hear from prospective students and personal visits can be arranged.  We also offer a guidance interview to discuss progression pathways and career options.

Please contact me at the school.

Mr A.J. Mirams

Assistant Principal
