English Literature This is a course that studies a wide range of English Literature written by male and female authors from different social, historical and cultural backgrounds. What will I need to study this subject? You must have at least a C grade for English Literature and Language. You must be prepared to read widely and carry out independent study. What will I learn? A/S You will learn to enjoy and appreciate a variety of literature paying close and critical attention to the content and style of literary writing. You will also learn to be a proficient writer; to be able to use written English accurately and appropriately for different purposes.
A2 This is a continuation of the A/S course and seeks to develop your critical and analytical skills further.
How will my work be assessed? A/S Your work will be assessed on a unit basis through written essays and module style examinations.
A2 This will be a continuation and development of the above.
What can I do alongside this subject? English Literature can be taken alongside most other subjects. Where next? You may want to study English Literature at degree level or use what you have learnt to enhance your enjoyment of literature. There are many career based possibilities such as television, journalism, teaching etc.
