Financial Studies

This course is an exciting new qualification that aims to address the poor levels of financial awareness in the UK.  It is designed to equip the future generations with knowledge to make suitable choices about their financial future.  I am sure you will find this course a stimulating and enjoyable experience.

What will I need to Study this Subject?

Four GCSE’s at grade C or above.  You must be prepared to learn and work hard.

What Will I Learn?

IFS Level 3 Certificate in Financial Studies (CeFS) AS Level

You will learn about managing your money, how it will impact on your life and the choices that you will have to make.  Financial services products (such as credit cards, loans and mortgages) will be explained to you along with how they can help you meet your individual lifestyle needs.

This qualification is divided into three units:

                Unit 1:   Why Money Matters

                Unit 2:   Risk and Reward

                Unit 3:   Making Personal Financial Judgements

IFS Level 3 Diploma in Financial Services (Dip FS) A2 Level

This follows on from the certificate and has been designed to teach you about the wider financial environment.

You will learn how to finance your future and how to make the most of financial services produces in order to meet the future needs and aspirations.  You will learn how to apply financial services products to other people’s situations.  You will also understand how changes in the financial services environment can affect your own choices.

These courses carry the same UCAS tariff as any other A Level.

How Will my Work be Assessed?

All three units are tested:

The first two tests are multiple choices on the computer and the third unit is a written paper based on a related case study.

What Can I Do Alongside this Subject?

Any Advanced course.

Where Next?

Both of these qualifications will give you an excellent head start if you are thinking of going on to a career in the financial service industry or on to University.
