6th Form: Enrichment Programme

As well as academic subjects, the Sixth Form also offers a range of Enrichment courses to help students gain skills that can be used later in life.

CSLA

Some of theses courses provide opportunities to work with young people.  The Community Sports Leaders Award (CSLA) allows students to work with a local junior school in assisting a sporting coach during their recreational periods.

Mentoring

The Sixth Form also runs a Mentoring scheme with lower school pupils.  Students will be assisting teachers during lessons with younger pupils who have learning difficulties.  There are also lunchtime sessions where sixth form students help younger pupils settle into their new school.

Year Book

There is also an opportunity to be part of the dedicated team who work to produce the Sixth Form Year Book.  This requires teamwork and organisation but will ultimately produce something to take away and remember your time at St. Georges.

First Aid

Many students opt to take part in the First Aid course.  Here they will learn how to look after the safety of others and themselves in a mix of both practical and theory work.  The skills that students develop on this course may prove to be vital in the future, particularly if they wish to pursue a career within the emergency services.

Enterprise

Another popular course with students is the Enterprise challenge.  Students work together to form a mock company to buy and sell products with the goal of making a profit and to achieve good customer satisfaction.  The skills and experience from this will assist in giving students an advantage when first entering the business world.

Driving

A local driving school also offers taster sessions to students.  During these sessions they will be able to experience what it is like to be behind the wheel. Students also receive safety tips and advice to keep them safe out on the road.
