6th Form: Key SkillsThe Key Skills courses are a vital part of the Sixth Form curriculum and give students an advantage when it comes to applying for universities and jobs. There are three courses, each one providing their own unique skills and experience. Students on Intermediate courses will work at Level 2 whilst those on Advanced courses will participate in Level 3 lessons. The Communication course offers students the chance to improve their writing skills and how they analyse other written material. Application of Number uses the student’s mathematical knowledge to sharpen their skills. If students wish to pursue a career in business this would be particularly vital. The Information Communication Technology course (ICT) teaches pupils basic skills when working with computers. This will be useful in a world where technology is developing at a fast rate. For those who have not done quite so well at GCSE, Level 2 Key Skills provides the chance for students to leave with at least an equivalent Grade C pass qualification in Maths, English and IT.
