Students need to attend school regularly to benefit from their education. Missing out on lessons leaves students vulnerable to falling behind. Students with poor attendance tend to achieve less in both primary and secondary school. The government suggest that any student whose attendance falls below 95% will have a negative impact on their progress at school and in turn will impact on their grades achieved at the end of each academic year.
Parents are requested to contact the school on the first day of their child’s absence and then each subsequent day should they be too ill to return to school.
Parents of students whose attendance falls below 90% are deemed by the Government to have a persistent absence rate and will be followed up by the school.
To report an absence due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances, please contact the school's absence line on 01843 609030 on each day of the absence. Alternatively, you can email Lynn Fisher, our Attendance Officer at LynnFisher@st-georgescofe-thanet.kent.sch.uk each day. Please include details of your child's name, form and the reason for absence in your message.
If you need to contact Mrs Horn, our Attendance Welfare Officer regarding absence issues then please email her at firstname.lastname@example.org
