Curriculum

Keystage 3

Year 7

Students are internally assessed in year 7 and placed in to groups based on ability and skills.   Students follow a common theme throughout the year “The Spy Game” for one lesson a week.  Within this theme they will follow “James Bund” and study ICT elements like Control, Searching, Publisher, PowerPoint, spreadsheets, and Database.

Year 8

Students in year 8 will follow a cross-curricular theme with Geography, Mathematics and Citizenship.  The programme is called “Benny & Kate’s around the world challenge.   Within this year students learn about the following countries cultures whilst developing a particular ICT skill. France, Brazil, Japan, Australia, USA and UK.  This programme also focuses on different learning styles.

Year 9

Students will cover units 9.1 Control, 9.3 Managing a project, in preparation for the end of keystage on-line test and AiDA skills development.

Keystage 4

ICT at GCSE level is totally vocational and follows the Edexcel AiDA, CiDA and DiDA courses.  In year 10 it is mandatory that all students study the AiDA (Award in Digital Applications) course.  Other students that choose ICT as an option have the choice of studying the CiDA (Certificate in Digital Applications) or the Full DiDA (Diploma in Digital Applications) course.  DiDA qualifications prepare students for the real world of work or further education. They are designed to stimulate students’ creativity and develop real-world, practical skills that will motivate learning across a wide range of subjects.
