Introduction to the MFL Department:

Welcome to Modern Languages at St George’s.

In Years 7 to 9 French is compulsory for all students.  There are two lessons each week.  You will learn to talk about yourself in French and to understand what French speaking people say to you.

In years 10 and 11 you can choose to do a language to GCSE.  You can choose to do either French or Spanish or to do both.  French GCSE is a modular course over two years consisting of coursework in speaking and writing. There is no coursework in Spanish GCSE where the grade is based on the final exam.

Events and Activities:

In previous years we have done two trips.

In Year 7 we have done a trip to Disneyland Paris.

In Years 10 & 11 we have a three day trip to Paris.
