Introduction to the PSHE Faculty:

The Faculty incorporates a number of curriculum areas.

  • Physical Education: Taught as a compulsory subject throughout all Key Stages. There is a full extra curricular sports programme. In key stage 4 & 5 BTEC courses are available to study as options.
  • Citizenship and PSHE: Taught in Key Stages 3 & 4. A GCSE examination is taken at the end of KS4.
  • Work Related Learning: Taught across all curriculum areas in Key Stage 4. There is also a discrete vocational learning group that spends one day a week at Thanet College pursuing vocational City & Guilds Courses with the rest of the time in school following Core subjects.
  • Work Experience: Students in KS 4 have the opportunity to follow a Work Experience placement for 2 weeks in their final year of compulsory schooling. KS 5 students have 1 week.

The Faculty is committed to teaching life skills to all our students through the mediums of the curriculum areas within the Faculty.

Events and Activities:

Rotary Club Interview winners.

35 Year 11 and 12 students attended Rotary Mock Interviews held at the school recently. The interviews were conducted by members of the Rotary Club of Thanet. Students were graded on their performance and the outstanding two put forward for a Rotary Young Leaders Award at HMS Arethusa.

Charisma Creed and Sean Thomas were the outstanding candidates and they attended the Young Leaders course last weekend. Our congratulations go to them and all the other who performed so well in the interviews.
