"Striving for Excellence through Enterprise"

Work Related Learning

In addition to the cross curricular Work Related Learning we deliver in KS4, there is also a discrete Work Related Learning group which is designed to cater for those students who find the academic rigour of the normal option programme too demanding.

These students follow a course learning life skills through the ASDAN programme and engage in a range of Pre Vocational courses at Thanet College and The Skills Studio at Westwood. These courses include Catering, Construction, Motor Vehicle Maintenance, Engineering and Retail. Students attend their chosen course 1 day per week for 2 years. The courses are level 1.

The students also have the opportunity to go on outdoor educational trips and get involved with various projects in school and the wider community.

The unit is run by Mrs Buckingham and Mr Boyce.

Work Related Learning Group on Wheels.

The Year 11 Work Related Group tried their hand at driving last week. The Learn2Pass Driving school came into St George's with 3 instructors and their cars. A great time was had by all and there was no need to call the Emergency services!

Our thanks go to Learn2Pass for giving up their time to come into school free of charge to help our students to become responsible motor vehicle users.  They also offer St George's Students a free first lesson when you book up to learn with them.
