Welcome to Rochester House
Mr Philip Parker has been Head of Rochester House since 1990. In the 16 years since his appointment Rochester have been undoubtedly the most successful of Houses having won the “Challenge Cup” twelve times. Under his leadership the ethos of ‘Every Child Matters’ has been developed with a sense of purpose and commitment from nearly all students. The House enjoys success in all areas of school life thanks to a superb support team of Tutors, Prefects and House Officials. Tutors:
Samantha Gurney 11R Samantha Gurney, a Year 11 student, in Rochester decided several months ago to undertake a “sponsored Tandem Parachute Jump” for charity. Although not attempting the jump individually it was still an incredibly brave undertaking. Before taking part in the event Samantha had to secure a minimum amount of sponsorship. The final total was a very impressive £919.00. This money went to the Institute of Cancer Research: a most worthwhile cause. After many hours of practice Samantha’s jump took place on Sunday, March 11th 2007 at 11.30 am. Please enjoy the pictures of her successful tandem jump. Sadly, later on in the day at Headcorn Airfield there was an accident causing one fatality. Our thoughts are with those involved. Congratulations to Sam from all in Rochester House and St George’s.
House Charity for 2006/2007: Asthma UK Three students in every classroom have asthma. We aim to help them get out there and active. School Asthma Pack is available by calling 0207 786 5000 or download it here. Kick Asthma holidays for ages 6 to 17 are held in July and August throughout the UK. Visit the Kick Asthma website here for further information. AchievementsRochester House students have always taken an active role in House and School Sports often providing the School Games Captains. In the field of Drama and Music a number of our students are taking leading roles in this year’s production of ‘Oliver’ either acting or playing in the School band. Rochester students have also taken a full part in the School’s Work Experience programme with many being commended on their maturity and efforts. Educationally many of our students go onto further education either at our Sixth form, Grammar school or College. Rochester House is a thriving community with many of our students proud to wear the RED TIE! |
