York House CharityYork’s House Charity is The R.S.P.C.A. East Kent Animal Centre. Students from York House have been involved in fundraising for this charity for the last four years. They have seen it develop from a grass field into a new, fully functional centre which currently works hard to look after and re-home unwanted cats in the local area. There are plans for dog kennels, a nature garden and an education centre in the future. Students from York House also began a campaign to help a young Puppy called “Wesley” who had seriously deformed back legs and needed £3000 of operations. The students raised £2400 towards Wesley’s cause and he has now made a full recovery and came into school to thank the students who had helped him out. York House will continue to raise money towards this worthy charity. York House TripsOver the last 12 months, children in York House have had the opportunity to go Christmas Shopping at Bluewater, to see “The Lion King” in London’s West End and to visit the 'Adventure Island' Theme Park in Southend. These trips are largely offered as an incentive for good behaviour and effort throughout the academic year and with sponsorship from the school's PTFA on occasions. We aim to keep the cost of the trips to a minimum where we can and more trips are planned for this year. AchievementsWe are very keen on rewarding all achievements, in order to encourage students to enjoy school and to fulfil their potential. Students receive certificates for House Points or Merits and these are all accumulated and form one aspect of the Inter House Challenge Competition at the end of the Christmas, Easter and Summer terms where all Houses compete to win the Challenge Cup. There are many other cups and awards up for grabs and York has won quite a few in the past. York House has some very talented students in many different areas including Music and Sport.
