27th September 2016
Our annual Harvest week began on Monday 3rd October and we supported Global Challenge and the Food Bank at the Gap Project in Broadstairs. This enables us to support both our community and others around the world in need.
We received a lovely letter from The Gap Project : click to read
Our 2 supported charities :
To support the project we will collected monetary donations to provide ‘A month’s food for one day’s giving’. It costs 33p to feed each child. So, £100 would feed 300 children, £300 would feed 900 children etc!
Mr Knight and the Clergy talked to the children about the project in their worship. Every penny raised really makes the difference in feeding the students in Uganda to enable them to thrive physically as well as educationally!
Food bank at the Gap Project
The Gap project runs out of Queens Road Baptist Church in Broadstairs and provides a food bank that supports many people in our local community. There is a list below of basic products that the Food bank really needs to continue to support the vulnerable people that come in to the project every day.
- Tinned meals – for example: tinned pies, spaghetti, baked beans and sausages
- Boil in the pot meals – for example: Pot noodles, pot pasta
- Microwave meals – for example: rice meals, pasta meals
- Essentially anything that can be cooked or microwaved in a saucepan or its own container easily without the need for an oven.
