KaMKOP Opportunities

The KaMCOP Team at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) would like to share with you the upcoming opportunities we have for your students this term including the free, virtual outreach sessions themed around creative careers and well-being. If you have any questions about the below opportunities, please get in touch:

Thrive Thursdays:

Dates: Thursday 9th and 16th July

Duration: 1 hour
Times: Please indicate your preferred time of day

This session has been developed to help students find out about creative careers and education pathway options, in line with UCA’s Thrive: Creative Careers initiative.

In this virtual session, students will:

  • Partake in a live Q&A session with a panel consisting of UCA Student Ambassadors and Creative Tutors.
  • Have the opportunity to find out more about creative career pathways and studying at Higher Education by asking questions to the panel. Prior to the session, schools will be sent a short Thrive presentation video (20 mins max.) and a Q&A resource sheet to introduce students to UCA and creative careers. You will also be sent a short description of each panel member to help students to prepare questions. Where possible, we will try to accommodate school requests regarding the creative disciplines of our panel members.

Well-being Wednesdays:

Dates: Wednesday 8th and 15th July

Duration: 30 min virtual session + extension activity
Times: Please indicate your preferred time of day

This session has been developed to help students increase their awareness of the benefits of creativity for our well-being and resilience

In the 30-minute virtual session students will:

  • Find out more about the importance of taking care of their mental health and well-being
  • Partake in a short mindfulness activity that they can use in their own time.
  • An extension Q&A resource sheet can be used either during or after the session

After the live session students can partake in a practical ‘Well-being Weaving’ workshop, designed to help them switch off from their everyday pressures. This extension activity can take place after the workshop at a time convenient for your school. We will provide an online tutorial video and send all required creative materials to your school in advance (in line with Covid-19 guidelines, we will provide materials that students can use and keep individually, to reduce sharing of resources). Schools will need to provide pencils, scissors and rulers for the workshop. This workshop is accessible to all students in Years 9-13 regardless of creative abilities and interests.

Online Graduation Show

We’re pleased to announce that the 2020 UCA Graduation Show is now available to view online, featuring more than 900 pieces of incredible work from this year’s graduating students.

The Grad Show is a great online resource that could be utilised in a cross-curricular fashion and shared with students inside and outside of school. We’re also happy to deliver Q+A sessions with UCA student ambassadors to discuss UCA courses and the University experience.

Please note, that some content shown in the Grad Show may have mature themes and therefore may not be appropriate for under 18s - we recommend that a member of school staff checks the content first before sharing with students. To view the Grad Show, please click here.
