Army Cadet Force

What is The Army Cadet Force?

The Army Cadet Force is a voluntary youth organisation providing challenging military, adventurous and community activities for all.

We have links with both regular and TA units, though it is primarily a youth movement. All cadets have the opportunity to participate in a range of activities from marksmanship and shooting to kayaking and climbing and all young people between 12-18 can join. As part of the syllabus they follow there are opportunities for them to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award as well as a BTEC in Public Services. There is no liability for military call up and no pressure to join the armed forces – we do however support those who choose a career in the military and the ACF has close links with local military establishments and units. We meet every Tuesday during term time between 1500hrs and 1800hrs and we run weekends normally about once a month and also a two week camp over the summer. All of this is done at cost (£5 a day for weekends) and our last two week camp cost just £55.
