Pick a component of fitness that you wish to improve on and design a 6-week training programme explaining what activities you would do, length of session, % of maximum heart rate you will work at. Include activities, which are creative and interesting to ensure exercise adherence

Then explain what you will do in a warm up and cool down including examples of stretches.

Volunteering - Community Week

If we were at school this week we would be taking part in a school community week.  

To link sport and community week together can you research the following questions:-

  • Why get into volunteering sport?
  • Who is it for?
  • What are the other benefits?
  • Can I take it to another level?
  • Is there a disability option?
  • Is there a family option?

Research the  voluntary groups that work in the local community.

Is there a local clubs or groups you may like to volunteer  with in the future?

Design a badge for the circus

Keep your designs fairly simple as they will need to be adapted for hand stitching.

Adapt the designs showing how you would use hand embroidery to create your badges

Annotate your ideas stating what style stitches you think would work.  The fabric used is felt so don’t worry about seams etc.  If you have the resources at home have a go!

Investigate the technique of reverse applique and produce an information sheet with Drawings and Examples.

Design a cushion, using only 3 colours, based on your circus images.

Keep it simple and use only straight lines as this design is intended for a simple piece of reverse applique.

Research the technique of stencilling and create an information page with drawings and examples.

Take part in one of Joe Wicks workouts. Once you have completed the workout describe what happens to the following

Extension task – Once you have described all of the changes, try to explain each one, you may need to carry out some research on the Internet to aid your answers.

Produce a poster to describe the Short-term effects of exercise on Bones, Muscles, heart and lungs.

Diet involves eating a wide variety of food including five portions of fruit and vegetables a day to allow the body to function efficiently and effectively. This diet should contain approximately 55% carbohydrates, 15% proteins and no more than 30% fats.

Energy comes from the food and drinks we eat, if the amount of energy consumed is equal to the amount of energy we use (completing daily tasks and exercise) our weight will remain the same.

The components of a balanced diet are

  • Fibre
  • Water and Hydration

For each of the bullet points above give an explanation of how they aid / role in the body and give specific examples of food. For the vitamins and minerals sections give 2 specific examples for each.
