Health and Social Care - Term 4 Work

Year 12 â€‹- Unit 5:

PM3

  1. Complete the ‘Unit 5 PM3 Proforma’ document (sharepoint – health – unit 5 – unit 5 PM3 proforma)
    1. Slide 2 = write definitions for the 4 theories, these definitions must be using the notes and the internet and you MUST reference where you have got them
    2. Slides 3&4 = use class notes to fill out the boxes, if you were absent then use the PP in the unit 5 folder called ‘Ethical Principles’
    3. Slides 5,6 & 7 = use the internet to research the organisation, legislation and guidance named in the tables. For each 1, give me 3 BRIEF bullet points about what it is about/does for a patient (I don’t want to know things like when it was set up)
    4. At the bottom of slide 7 fill out the 3 headings on the mind map to tell me why we need to consider religion, government policies and personal choice when providing care for someone. I want to know why these 3 things might mean that guidances and legislations may be overruled.
    5. Slides 8, 9 and 10 = relate the above work to the 3 cases studies by answering the questions on the slides.
  1. Complete the ‘Unit 5 PM4 P5 D2 Proforma’ document (sharepoint – health – unit 5 – unit 5 PM4 P5 D2 proforma). You won’t be able to complete all of this work so please only do the slides indicated below:
    1. Slide 3 = find a definition for the word ‘framework’ write it at the top. Then research the 4 policies and write 1 sentence to tell me what the main point of the policy is
    2. Slide 5 = research the 5 psychological approaches (yes more theories!) and tell me 3 positives about it and 3 negatives
    3. Slide 6 = ONLY do box 3 titled ‘New technologies’. Research each technique and write 1 short sentence to tell me how it is used to help people communicate (e.g. loop system = a wire goes around a room and amplifies sound)
  1. Please e-mail me as often as you need to tonikennedy@st-georgescofe-thanet.kent.sch.uk with any questions that you have.
  1. Also email any work once you have completed it so I can mark it and sign it off.

Year 13 â€‹Unit 14:

  1. If you haven’t finished the ‘D2 Justifying procedures’ document then finish this off (sharepoint – health – unit 14 - D2 Justifying procedures).
    1. Pages 1&2 = what are the good things and the bad things about each procedure? use your M2 and your booklet for ideas. Try to make it specific to the test (e.g. it is embarrassing to get your breasts out in front of the doctor)
    2. Page 3 = You DON’T have to name individual tests. You just have to say if you think that investigations OR diagnostics are better for diabetes, say why you have come to this decision. Then do the same for breast cancer. It doesn’t have to be massive.
    3. For the remainder of the boxes please remind yourself what the difference is between treatment (surgery, medication, monitoring), support (rehabilitation, life style changes), carer (informal, formal and voluntary) and care setting (where can they get treatment – hospital, hospice, home). Please don’t start naming support groups as types of support, don’t get confused by the wording. The only answers that needs to be detailed are when the questions ask for ‘Benefits of…..’ then you need to talk about how it will effects PIES, the person’s general life or their family.
  1. Complete all activities on the ‘LAD write-up’ document (sharepoint – health – unit 14 – LAD write-up)
    1. Use my PowerPoints on sharepoint in the unit 14 folder to help with notes on our case study, suggestions of things to write and definitions. PowerPoints are called ‘Learning Aim D’, ‘Outcomes to be achieved’ and ‘Individual needs’.
    2. There are a number of activities to complete throughout the document, the instructions are at the top of each section. This document MUST be about our case study so please mention their name throughout and make sure you use the notes on my PowerPoints to make sure you are using relevant info.
  1. Amend coursework from unit 5 by using the notes that I have written on your work in green pen.
  1. Please e-mail me as often as you need to tonikennedy@st-georgescofe-thanet.kent.sch.uk with any questions that you have.
