SCHOOL UNIFORM AND EQUIPMENT
The high reputation enjoyed by this old-established school has been very largely built upon the great measure of co-operation we have received from families. We are sure we can rely upon you to co-operate with us in maintaining these high standards in the matter of school uniform.

If in doubt, please contact the school before buying an item of school clothing. All garments and possessions brought into school should be clearly marked with the pupil’s name. We recommend CLOTHING TAGS (click link).
All lost property will be taken to, and claimed from, the Student Support Office at Secondary and the main office at Primary.
Families are strongly recommended to take out personal insurance against the loss of possessions.
FASHION CLOTHES/SHOES, TRAINERS AND BOOTS ARE NOT ALLOWED AND PUPILS WILL BE SENT HOME IF THEY WEAR THESE ITEMS. "SPORTS SHOES" ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.
SECONDHAND UNIFORM:
A selection of Second hand uniform can be sourced from The Schoolwear Centre, under their "Much Loved" scheme. In addition to this there is a buy or swap uniform shop every Tuesday and Thursday at collection time at Primary.
ALL PUPILS MUST ABIDE BY THE UNIFORM RULES. ANY PUPIL NOT WEARING FULL UNIFORM WILL NOT BE ALLOWED INTO NORMAL LESSONS.
Uniform Expectations:
Pupils are expected to wear correct uniform at all times (other than on specified non uniform days) this includes travelling to and from school, out on school events or trips organised by the school and or when representing the school and of course whilst on school premises.
Families are expected to make sure that their child has the correct uniform and PE kit and that every item is clean, clearly labelled with their child’s name and in good condition.
Staff will closely monitor pupils to make sure that their uniform is correct. They will give any pupils and families breaching the uniform policy the opportunity to comply but will follow up with the Leadership Team if the situation does not improve. A full copy of the uniform and where you can purchase can be found a the top of this page.
If a pupil is wearing non-uniform items and refuses to adhere to the school uniform policy:
- The pupil will continue learning in in the school’s Regulation and Reflection Room, including breaks and lunch until a parent can bring in correct uniform items or the child wears the uniform correctly.
- If we cannot contact parents, or the pupil continues to refuse to wear uniform correctly, the pupil will continue to be isolated until the issue is resolved.
- We always try to work closely with parents to resolve issues in partnership. However, if a pupil persistently breaks uniform code, repeated issues can result in sanction and/ or suspension from school.
A common sense approach to general appearance:
The school applies a common-sense approach to general appearance. This allows us to achieve a balance in our approach to hairstyles, hair colours, piercings. Whilst we do not prohibit specific “styles” of appearance outside of our uniform code we reserve the right to address/ prohibit anything we feel is excessive, inappropriate or extreme.
Therefore, we ask that:
- Uniform should be worn appropriately and correctly without modification – for example skirts should be of a suitable length, not rolled at the waistband and shirts should be worn tucked in.
- Torn/ damaged items should be replaced as soon as possible.
- Items of clothing or appearance should not denote affiliation to any politically motivated group or denote extreme views and must not cause offense- this includes coats and jackets.
The school will not be responsible for the loss/ damage and incurred costs of any prohibited or sanctioned items.
EQUIPMENT (SECONDARY PUPILS ONLY):
It is vital that we are all prepared and Ready to Learn. Therefore we ask that all children are sent to school with the following equipment:
- Pen – Black or Blue
- Pen - Red
- Pencil
- Reading book
- Swipe card
The following are not essential, but highly recommended:
- Rubber
- Ruler
- Sharpener
- Colouring Pencils
- Glue Stick
To help you in your Maths lessons, it would be excellent if you could have your own:
Maths set (including compass and protractor) and Scientific calculator (Casio).
WE SUPPLY ALL EQUIPMENT FOR EXAMS
SWIPE CARD (SECONDARY ONLY):
- Pupils must have their swipe card.
- New swipe cards will only be issued to new pupils joining the school, all others must be repurchased via ParentPay.
- All new pupils will also be issued a swipe card.
The school community take great pride in wearing the St George’s crest, and I therefore ask that all families ensure their child adheres to the uniform and equipment expectations, it is vital we have parental support in order to uphold the high standards we set for all.
