Welcome to the Year 2 Page

Meet the Year 5 Team

DRAKE Class

DARTMOOR Class

In Year 5, pupils continue to work on developing the core skills across all curriculum areas. The priority remains for pupils to embed and widen those skills so they are demonstrating how they can transfer their knowledge and skills across subject areas and show greater independence in their approach to learning. Reading is at the heart of our curriculum, with opportunities for pupils to develop their understanding and vocabulary across a wide range of subject areas. Pupils will be expected to display an increasing depth in understanding of topics across the curriculum in both their recorded work and verbal contributions. Pupils’ are also expected to present their work in a neat and precise manner, taking pride and ownership in their learning. Several educational trips and visits will be organised throughout the academic year to help enhance and develop pupils’ understanding of the Year 5 curriculum.

Weekly homework is set on a Friday and is due in by the following Thursday. In addition to spellings and multiplication, tasks will also be set online at Purple Mash to reinforce and extend the learning that happens in class. Weekly spellings are also sent home for practise to complement the spelling patterns and relationships taught in school. It is expected that pupils are reading on a regular basis at home and reading books/records should be brought into school daily.

To report an absence due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances, please contact the school office on each day of the absence.  Alternatively, you can email primaryadmin@st-georgescofe-thanet.kent.sch.uk  Please include details of your child's name, class and the reason for absence in your message.
