Prayers of the Week

Term 5 Week 1


James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.


Dear God,

Thank you for the Easter holidays. We thank you for the chance we have had to rest. Give us all we need to succeed in the term ahead. In Jesus’ name, Amen.


Father God,

We bring to you all the whole school community and pray you will bless every member. We pray our learning would be filled with discovery, fun and creativity.

In Jesus’ name, Amen


Father God, We thank you that you know each of us by name and that you know everything we need. Help us to make the best of each day, so that we can live out the Wisdom that you give to us. In Jesus; name, Amen.


Dear Lord, We pray for all those who serve us in the emergency services – give them the strength, wisdom and encouragement they need. In Jesus’ name, Amen.


A prayer from a secondary school pupil:

Dear Lord, Thank you for helping keep everyone safe. Thank you for keeping my friends and family safe. Amen.

Term 5 Week 2


James 3:17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.


Dear God, We thank you for your many blessings. Help us to appreciate what we have and give us the wisdom to help others. Amen.


A prayer on St George’s Day:

Oh God, who gave Saint George strength and steadfastness during the many trials he endured for our holy faith, we ask you to keep our faith strong and free from doubt through his intercession. May we serve you faithfully with sincere hearts for all our days. Amen.


Today is the Lord’s Prayer,

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.


Dear Lord, We thank you for this week and for being with us at all times. We thank you for what you have helped us learn and achieve and for those who have helped us. We ask that you will go ahead of us next week and give us your strength and guidance to help us to do our best. Help us to bless others just as you bless us.

Dear God, Thank you for creating the world. Thank you for all the amazing animals, flowers and trees. Help us to look after the world and everyone in it. In Jesus’ name, Amen

Term 5 Week 3


Proverbs 12:15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice.


Father God, We ask you to wrap your arms around us. Keep us safe. Keep us warm. Help us to be kind to people of every faith and none. Teach us to be caring and loving. In Jesus’ name, Amen 


Father God, Help us to be strong in spirit, courageous in action and gentle in heart. Help us to act in wisdom, conquer our fears and doubts and discover our gifts. Help us to meet others with compassion, to be a source of healing, hope and joy. In Jesus’ name, Amen


Father God, We thank you for all those who work in the medical profession. We ask that you bless them as they treat their patients and give them the wisdom and skills they need to serve us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.


Dear Lord, We thank you for another day of learning and for everyone in our school community that makes it possible. Thank you for all our premises staff who take care of the school and the buildings so that we can continue to learn and grow. Amen.



Father God, We have so many things to say Thank you for. Thank you for our families. Thank you for our friends. Thank you for what we eat. Thank you for our beautiful world. Thank you for everything you give us and everything you do for us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Term 5 Week 4


Proverbs 18:15 - An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge




Dear God, We thank you for the past weekend and for the chance to rest – we pray for those starting exams this week to have the wisdom to do their best. In Jesus’ name, Amen.


Almighty God, We pray a prayer of thanks for the work of the teaching staff across the school. We ask that you would enable them to help all pupils reach their potential. Amen


A prayer of blessing from the book of Numbers in the Bible.

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; 

The Lord turn his face towards you and give you peace.

Dear God, Thank you for our school. Thank you for all the staff who help us throughout the day. Thank you for everything we learn and do each day. Please help us to show our values to everyone in school and in the  community. Amen

Term 5 Week 5


Proverbs 2:6 For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;


Father God, Thank you for the weekend. As we start another week help us not only to love ourselves but to love others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.


Father God, Help us to remember our school’s values of Compassion, Friendship, Forgiveness, Hope & Wisdom. Help us to put these values into practice every day. In Jesus name, Amen.


Father God, We thank you for our families and the way they love and take care of us. We pray particularly for those families that are going through difficult times and ask that you give them strength and comfort. In Jesus name, Amen.


Dear Lord, Help everyone to achieve their hopes and dreams throughout the bad and the good times. Thank you for all the happy times we have and our friends and families. In Jesus name, Amen.



Father God, We thank you for all the teachers and support staff who work for St George’s, to make our school such a great place to learn and ask that you help us all to do, and be, the best that we can be for you and for each other. In Jesus name, Amen.

Term 5 Week 6

Dear Lord, We thank you for the day we have had – help us to learn from our mistakes and to celebrate our successes. Be with us as we go on and enjoy the rest of the day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.


Today we will hear the Serenity Prayer:

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,

courage to change the things I can,

and wisdom to know the difference. Amen


Dear Lord, Take us to the place where we are no longer looking at the mountains we face but looking down upon them, where we can have the wisdom to make good choices and a peace that surpasses all understanding. In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen. 


O God, Who instructed the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, Grant us in the same Spirit to be truly wise and ever rejoice in His consolation. Through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
