Year 7 and 8 Careers

For year 7 and 8 we recommend exploring Unifrog.  Also, a Psychometric Test can be used to identify your strengths, aptitudes and unlock your potential.  Mr Targett explains Psychometric Assessments :

In year 9 you will be choosing your options for year 10. Look below for your link.

Employability Skills

These are some of the skills that future employers will be looking for:

  • Communicating with others (that includes listening skills!)
  • Being proactive (and aiming high)
  • Being positive (and resilient)
  • Using maths or ICT
  • Teamwork
  • Problem solving
  • Creativity
  • Being well organised
  • Leadership skills
  • Being able to work alone (independent)
  • Being actively involved in your community

Do you have any evidence of these skills???

There are helpful interviews, advice and links to set you on the right pathway.

Year 11 Careers

YEAR 11 CAREERS : POST-16 OPTIONS

Our school library has a Careers section with books such as The Good University Guide, the Guide to Not Going to University, HEAP 2020 and many prospectuses. Pupils need to be able to write a Personal Statement and navigate through application sites such as Kent Choices.

At the bottom of the page is a great document made by Newcastle University to help with Personal Statements and another with interview advice. See also our section the 6th Form Careers tab for links about Apprenticeships and other pathways. We strongly recommend that pupils make use of their Unifrog accounts.
