Curriculum Vision

Resilience – During this course, students will study psychological research. They will learn about various research methods and their importance in psychological inquiry and how to conduct psychological investigations using both qualitative and quantitative research methods. This course also teaches transferable skills that are valued by employers & universities; these include independent learning, self-reflection, critical thinking and working in collaboration with others alongside analytical and presentation skills.

Curiosity– Psychology is the scientific study of minds and behaviour and is therefore part of our everyday lives. It can help to develop solutions for real-world problems and help people resolve complex emotional issues. Is the way we behave due to our genetic make-up? What are the psychological effects of stress? Can psychological approaches explain gender? These are some of the questions that students will be given the opportunity to explore.

Community – In psychology, a range of learning techniques are used to make the subject enjoyable for all students. The topics we cover will allow us to think about and understand how we feel, as well as help us to gain knowledge and understanding in building happier and healthier relationships within our community. There is a specialty for every passion, so the course will allow you to explore your chosen path.

Adventurous–. Students will be able to plan practical’s and make adjustments where necessary. They will be skilled with a wide range of research methods and will be able to select the correct method for the relevant research questions. Our curriculum encourages and facilitates further studies or potential careers in the subject, whilst empowering students to have a greater appreciation and awareness of Psychology related issues in the world around them

Independence– We aim to highlight career opportunities throughout this course to enthuse, engage and encourage student explore the possibility of a future career in Psychology and have a greater understanding of the possible career paths this course may lead to.  Keeping the student motivated is paramount to meeting this aim and allowing them to grow and develop their confidence to become independent learners.

Challenging – A combination of written coursework and exam assessment will challenge student to develop and improve their writing, analytical and creative skills alongside the challenge of improving their confidence to further their learning beyond the classroom.  Independent learning is a key factor in being successful and students will be encouraged and supported to make their own connections between topics taught to gain a greater insight to the subject of Psychology.
