Return to school (Secondary)

26th February 2021

Dear Parents,

I am very much looking forward to welcoming everyone back to school. As your child has not been in the normal school environment for quite some time now I wanted to take this opportunity to remind you all of the uniform, equipment, rewards and behaviour expectations in school, so that we can get off to a flyer start as of Monday 8th March. Pupils are required to attend school and be Ready to Learn, they need to have their correct uniform, correct equipment and behave in a respectful and safe way.

When a child adheres to all the school rules we wish to spend our time promoting and celebrating all their positive behaviours and achievements, to do this we will:

Note in the student planner

Always, Always Raffle ticket: Daily draw for a prize
Achievement Logs
Headteacher Award
Celebration Assembly Awards
Certificates and Prizes

If a child behaves in a manner that creates an unsafe environment and prevents learning then there will be a consequence for their action. Choosing St George’s School for your child is you agreeing to the consequences we will put in place.

I would also like to remind all that chewing gum, cans and smoking of any kind is not permitted on school grounds. Pupils are required to dismount and walk all bikes and scooters on school premises. Mobile phones and all other electronic devices should not be seen or heard during the school day and will be confiscated if used. Parents are responsible for the use of their child’s mobile phone and social media sites, the school provides no access to wifi and so we encourage parents to monitor their child’s use of their own devices.

Uniform and Equipment Expectations

There have been no changes to uniform and equipment expectations, but due to the current situation I need to ask for additional help, I will not be able to loan equipment so please check regularly that your child has what they need for their learning, as always I will thank you in advance for your support with this.

Uniform
It is vital that we are all prepared and Ready to Learn, even more so in these times as we are unable to loan and share uniform: Therefore I ask parents to ensure that their children arrive in all the appropriate items:

PE uniform and equipment requirements have not changed and your child will be expected to arrive fully prepared for these lessons, there will be separate guidance sent home regarding this.

I would also like to take this opportunity to remind you that:

Hair should be in a style acceptable to the school and of a natural colour. Hair must be no shorter than a grade 3 cut and there must be no patterns or parting shaved into the head. If, in the opinion of the Headteacher, hair is unacceptable parents will be informed and the child may be isolated. Parents are advised to contact the School prior to visiting a hairdresser if they have any queries regarding acceptable hairstyles.
Make-up must NOT be worn in school. This includes false eyelashes, fake or coloured nails. Please ensure that your child is not bringing make-up into school.
Jewellery: Pupils are only allowed ONE pair of small plain studs or ONE pair of plain sleepers, they may also wear a watch– NO OTHER JEWELLERY IS PERMITTED. If a pupil wears a ring or other jewellery it will be confiscated, pupils can then collect at the end of the day.
